It wasn’t enough for Apple to release a Mac based on Intel architecture. Now, they’ve released a free software called Boot Camp that will allow users to load Microsoft Windows onto the machine. The Mac OS X and Windows installations won’t run simultaneously, but it is one step closer to what most PC enthusiasts have desired for a long time. As mostwould expectfrom such anannouncement, Apple’s share price has shot up and thegeneral response is a resounding chorus of praise.
This is just the beginning. The article also mentioned that VMware, a company that specializes in virtualization software, plans to incorporate Mac OS X intoupcoming releases. Virtualization software allows users to run multiple operating systems–and even multiple instances of an operating system–simultaneously by tricking the hardware that only one OS is active. This is certainly a help to software developers, but it will also prove handy to Mac enthusiasts who want their Windows games or Windows enthusiasts who long to experience the grace of the Mac OS X interface.
I’m almost too elated to contain myself!
