Tackling the Jungle…

We decided to finally figure out how to tame our front and backyards. Neither of us have ever done yardwork before, as our Houston condo did not require it. So, with the help and guidance from our neighbors, Lorna & Steve, owners of Every Bloomin’ Thing, a landscaping company, we went full force over the last two weekends. Enjoy the progression below…

Before

There are no Front Yard Before pics, but the most dramatic difference was in the backyard anyways. As you can see, we had already begun some trimming, but here is what we started with…

Lorna & Steve complimented our amazing ability to grow weeds as tall as us! I’m not so sure that is something to write home about, though…

This is supposed to be a Holly Tree. It has started planting babies, hence the overgrowth.

After!

It looks like a backyard now! Ryan took out the blackberry bushes along the fence.

We can now see the actual plants in this corner! There is even an apple tree… we picked one a little early, and although being tart, it was delicious!

And, here is the Holly Tree. We’re trying to make it look like an actual bed, not grass mound. Its getting there, slowly, but surely!

Needless to say, we’re very proud of our first adventure into gardening! It should be MUCH easier to keep up now that it has been tamed!
