We celebrated all week long! Ryan loved the gift I gave him (per his suggestion back in April)… tickets to the Robert Earl Keen concert in Seattle! Ryan has seen him 5 or 6 times, but never as close as last night. We were less than 20 feet away from him! It was truly a great concert!
We met the cousin of REK’s steel guitarist/keyboard player, David, during the concert. He is a band director southeast of Seattle. His cousin, Marty, is on the far right below. According to David, REK is a great boss, as their band has been together for almost 10 years.
We had a great location, as Ryan was even able to shake REK’s hand as he exited the stage! A nice bouncer gave me his stool to sit on through the concert, which was a wonderful lifesaver! There are benefits to being 7.5 months pregnant!
Ryan also received a fun surprise from my parents… 3 pounds of his absolute most favorite coffee, Catalina Coffee in Houston, with 2 more pounds to come, hand-delivered in November! Even being in the ‘land of coffee’, according to Ryan, nothing compares to Catalina’s beans and roasting processes. As you can tell, he LOVED the surprise!
He also received great cards from his family! And, on the actual day, I made him a salmon dinner and his mom’s delicious Red Velvet Cake. We had our neighbors, Steve, Lorna & Eliza over that night to help us celebrate! We are so blessed to have such amazing friends so close!
All in all, I think he felt very loved by all the birthday festivities!
